How familiar is traditional singing to us nowadays?
How is this tradition able to reveal new ways of expression to modern artists? Can we trace its “footprints” in time?
In this workshop we will deconstruct melodies of well known traditional tunes and we will try to understand their musical codes. We will be introduced once again to old polyphonic singing, to the way language and rhythm have shaped our musical expression since the very early human time, since they are “lands” always worth visiting again and again! We will try to detach ourselves from our common educational tools and we will explore different ways of communication, narration and voice posture comparing to the way we perceive them today.
The workshop is open to singers and instrumentalists interested in traditional singing and spoken tradition, in general.
