The main objective of this workshop is for the participants to get familiar with the theatrical mask -an important acting and transformation tool that has been used since ancient times- by designing and consequently making their own mask, using techniques that they will later be able to apply towards educational purposes or within the context of a theatrical performance.
The creative process starts from envisioning the desired character and extends -in a way- to an anthropological study relative to morphological/anatomical face features, but also its expressional capabilities. The first and most important material for the building process is clay. It's at this sculpting stage that the mask's shape takes form, then followed by the construction of the mold used for the final material -in this case, gauze- to get applied on.
