(25.8 welcome date / 31.8 departure date)
After last year’s successful cooperation with MV ensemble, the composition workshop in Music Village is going to be held again this summer with the title “Music Composition in Practice”. This way, the participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to see their work come alive in the final concert.
The instruments at participant’s disposal will be:
- violin
- cello
- piano
- percussion (vibraphone, marimba, snare drum, cymbals and some small percussion instruments)
The musical compositions should be submitted until 1st of August, so as musicians have the chance to select those that will be performed at the final concert.
The ensemble will perform the compositions at the rehearsals without audience, at the general rehearsal though the composers will be able to work together with the ensemble. The time every composer will have available at the general rehearsal will depend on the amount of work and the level of difficulty of the compositions will be performed at the final concert.
This year, each member of the ensemble will deliver a presentation every day which participants can attend. In such presentations, the musicians will discuss thoroughly about their instrument’s potentials as well as some alternatives or ideas will be suggested regarding the composers’ music works.
As always, there will be the chance for the participants to compose or improve their compositions during the workshop, with the coordination of Periklis Liakakis.
20th century’s “romantic” harmony will be the topic we will analyze at the workshop this year.
