Dimitris Apostolakis—musician and lyricist of Hainides, physicist, writer, performer, and Tai Chi teacher—invites us to a week of creative communal living on Mount Pelion.
We begin with mind–body practices (breathing, walking, and fundamental Tai Chi principles) to “tune” our attention. We then move into conversations where physics and cosmology become storytelling tools: rhythm, time, energy, symmetry—not as formulas, but as ways of listening and thinking.
Each day ends in musical practice: voice, lyra/any instrument, improvisation, collective composition, lyric-weaving, listening games, and small actions that bring speech and sound together. No theoretical background in physics or martial arts is required—only curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and a spirit of collaboration. The workshop is open to musicians of all levels, as well as anyone who wants to share a week with this multi-faceted and always unpredictable artist.
If you’re drawn to an unusual yet deeply caring apprenticeship, come with your instrument, your voice, your body—and above all, a desire to explore.

Dimitris Apostolakis (“Hainis”)
Dimitris “Hainis” Apostolakis was born in Polythea, Crete, and is a founding member of Hainides, the collective formed in 1990 in Heraklion. Hainides began as a group of students at the Physics Department in Heraklion—an origin that sheds light on Apostolakis’s ongoing dialogue with scientific thought. A lyra player and singer with a strong presence both on stage and across the group’s discography, he moves in parallel between musical creation, writing, and science, and has been publicly presented as a musician/songwriter, writer, and physicist. Works such as Drakodonti (“Dragon Tooth”) distill this synthesis of word, music, and performance. Based in Athens, he teaches Tai Chi (on Philopappos Hill), cultivating a mind–body practice that often resonates with rhythm and the “economy” of musical gesture.
