The Labyrinth
The labyrinth is both a place and a symbol. In this workshop, we will explore it through our moving bodies. It will support us as a safe container that promotes introspection and self-discovery. We will use it as a metaphor for the journey of life and transformation.
The Body and Its Movement
The body is our material presence and is in constant internal and external motion. Our movement in life is shaped by environmental, social, and emotional factors. Often, we stop experimenting and trying. Thus, a way has been structured through which we express ourselves, connect with the environment and others, as well as with our own selves. Within our bodies lies all our memory and history, both personal and collective. It has its own way of speaking about what pains it and what it desires.
The Group Framework
In an environment of safety, freedom, acceptance, respect, and creativity, we will give our bodies the opportunity to become a freer conduit with ourselves and the world. We will focus on experiential exploration of aspects of the self and relationships, active physical presence, deep connections with our bodies and their movement, recognition and enrichment of the relationship with ourselves and others, support for relationships of acceptance, and the development of empathy and creativity.
Principles and Methods
The working method is based on Dance Movement Psychotherapy within the framework of Non-Directive Intervention and Therapy (NDI) informed by Polyvagal practices in trauma therapy. The approach is consistent and systematic in creating conditions for human relationships through positive communication, acceptance, empathy, authenticity, trust, and collaboration, seeking the emergence, expression, and realization of participants' emerging desires. The focus will be on the process of promoting personal well-being and encouraging learning and personal development.
The workshop is aimed at individuals involved in mental and physical health, art, education, students, and those interested in enriching the way they live and move in this world. No prior experience in dance or group therapy is required. Adults with different levels of physical fitness can participate.
Participants need to be willing to work on personal material with the guidance of the facilitator.
